Fast-tracked planning
Expedite began the process with an eight-week sprint – a rapid discovery period to shape the brief, confirm design direction, and lock down costs before the end of the year. During that time, Expedite and WSP worked together to finalise design elements and budgets, bring leadership up to speed, run trades through the site, and set measurable ESG and sustainability goals.
This sprint enabled the entire project to transition from concept to contract quickly. Working at that speed demanded trust and constant collaboration – something that we built quickly with the WPS team.
Deeply personal
For WSP, the design of its Auckland space went beyond colour and layout – it wanted to showcase its identity, connection and respect for Te Ao Māori.
Expedite facilitated a one-week, in-person design workshop that brought together WSP’s internal cultural advisors, local artists, Māori staff and four external designers. The outcome was a confirmed floor plan, which balanced global workplace standards with heritage and storytelling. Every detail, from materials to spatial flow, was considered and intentional to create a space that felt authentic and grounded in Te Ao Māori.
Building through the holidays
With the design and budget approved, construction began at the start of December 2023. Expedite ran an accelerated, single-stage build that relied heavily on precise scheduling, daily site coordination and proactive risk management.
